Join us for a fabulous weekend away where you will connect with God and other students from your campus and around Chicago. Our meetings will include hearing from great speakers, worshipping God through music and getting to hear about how God is working on college campuses in Chicago and all over the world. Throughout the retreat you’ll be able to compete in various competitions like our video contest, ultimate frisbee tournament, and lip sync battle which will determine which campus will be the fall retreat grand champion! You don’t want to miss this!

Speaker – Eric Rivera is the Lead Pastor at The Brook, a multiethnic church in Chicago that he and his team planted in 2013. Eric is passionate for urban pastoral ministry and seeing God raise gospel-centered leaders. He has a B.A. in Bible Theology from Moody Bible Institute, M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a Ph.D. in Historical Theology at Trinity. He married his wife Erikah in 2003 and together are parents to three children.
Arrival and Departure – Registration will be from 5:30 PM to 7:45 PM. Please eat dinner before you arrive at the camp. The retreat will be over by 12:00 PM on Sunday.
Transportation – Army Lake Camp is about 100 miles northwest of Chicago. Those driving should plan on a 2.5 to 4 hour drive during heavy Friday traffic. For those without access to a car or ride to the retreat we are chartering a bus that will take students to and from the retreat. The bus will pick up and drop off near DePaul’s campus. The pick up time will be around 4 PM on Friday. The cost to ride the bus will be $15 to offset some of this cost (this will be a savings over previous years when students paid $10 for the shuttle plus the cost of Metra tickets). You can sign up to ride the bus on the online registration. There is no discount for only riding one way.
Other Activities – Friday night there will be a bonfire complete with smores. Saturday afternoon there will be free time with lots of sports, games, and other fun activities offered.
Frequently Asked Questions
1) If I can’t come to the entire retreat can I come to part of it? What is the cost if I do that?
Yes, you can come to part of the retreat. The broken down cost for the retreat is $10 per meeting, $25 per night.
2) What should I bring to the retreat?
You should bring a sleeping (or equivalent bedding), a pillow, casual clothing, a jacket, any toiletries you need, a towel, a notebook, a pen, a Bible, sports equipment, games, and homework (if you have to).
3) I have children, can they come to the retreat? Is childcare provided? At what cost?
We can look into this if there is need. If this is your situation please email Nathan.
4) What is covered in my registration costs?
Your registration covers the entire program, two nights lodging at the camp, all three meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. It does not cover any travel costs (if you are riding with someone you should pitch in for gas). In the past most students who drove stopped for dinner on the way there and lunch on the way back.
5) I’d love to go on the retreat, but I just don’t have the money to go, is there anything that can be done?
We don’t want finances to be what keeps someone from coming on the retreat. There is a limited amount of scholarship money available so please talk to your staff person about your situation and it’s likely that we’ll be able to work something out. If you don’t know who your staff person is then email Nathan.
